Workshops and opportunities to learn with RRWS

One of the goals of the RRWS is to provide opportunities for local artists to learn from local and national artists.  Our flagship workshop is held annually for a week, typically in May.  We also strive to have shorter workshops during the year covering a wide range of topics and interests.

First Annual “Art at the Lake” Workshop "Bites of Color" by Sandra Muzzy
Ever wanted to get away and just paint bite-sized pieces?  Tackle lots of different projects, learning new techniques, experiment with them and then be able to do something memorable with the results?  This is the opportunity for you and your art! Our guest artist, instructor and guide will be Sandy Muzzy, a friend of the RRWS and Fargo.  She is a RRWS member, AWP contributor and has had work accepted into our National Show twice so she has rather strong ties to our organization.  She has been accepted into the Art on the Plains exhibition in Fargo.  Sandy is known for her engaging and friendly manner and will help novices and experienced artists alike.  A teacher in the Como Conservatory's botanical illustration program and past President of the Minnesota Watercolor Society (2000-2004), Sandy says she has gone from studying art to teaching it.  She now teaches full time.   Her Victorian-themed garden studio shows evidence of her love for the patterns and details of nature and even her abstract pictures are alive with her love for art and color. The weekend is broken into mini-workshops with time for painting en plein aire on the pontoon boat, in the woods or around the Retreat Centre.

All the pieces will be no bigger than 8”x10” so no lugging large pieces of equipment.  The equipment list will be just the necessities and we will strive to use them in different and challenging ways.

The registration form and more information is on our Entry Forms page.
