Workshops and opportunities to learn with RRWS
One of the goals of the RRWS is to provide opportunities for local artists to learn from local and national artists. Our flagship workshop is held annually for a week, typically in May. We also strive to have shorter workshops during the year covering a wide range of topics and interests
Fall Workshop
Second Annual Art at the Lake
It is good that we have such a busy summer planned to celebrate our 20th Anniversary of Red River Watercolor Society. And after that busy summer, it will be nice to have an opportunity to unwind, relax, paint and fellowship with others.
The chance to do that is the Second Annual Art at the Lake to be held in Park Rapids, MN again from September 18th to 20th. This year we have Ellen Diederich as the retreat artist and workshop leader. Ellen is a charter member of Red River Watercolor Society and very active in our community. She is a teacher and educator and your classes will be interesting and suitable for all skill levels. The retreat cost is $145 for members including shared accomondation and meals.
We are also showcasing more local talent with 2 workshops on the Friday afternoon to give all an opportunity to hone some skills. Sandy Miles will be talking about mxing colors - we all have a pallette with a large variety of hues but what to do with them to make the best use of them. Judi Koehmstedt will be sharing techniques on painting figures and faces. This great opportunity is availalbe for $20 for one of the 2.
Last year the retreat filled up very fast and we had people attending from Wisconsion to Bismarck. Check out http://www.redriverws.org/cgi-bin/photoalbum/view_album/136430 for pictures. Our guest artist was Sandy Muzzy. The weekend was a great opportunity for wives to bring husbands and one husband brought his wife - there is a fee for people wanting to attend Northern Pines but not particpate in the workshop.

2009 National Show Workshop - This is full
Rose Edin will be teaching this week long workshop in June 2009 from the 12-th to the 16th at the Plains Art Museum. Rose last taught our fledgling group 20 years so this is a double celebration.
The cost of the workshop is $275 for RRWS members and $300 for guests. Space is limited. Please send your check for the full amount to RRWS, P.O. Box 1656, Fargo, ND 58107 along with your contact information (name, address, phone and e-mail) to reserve a space. Reservations are made upon receipt of the registration.
Hjemkomst Artist Workshop
You are invited to join the artists of Hjemkomst Artist Workshop. The group meets every Thursday afternoon at the Hjemkomst Museum, 202 1st Ave N, Moorhead, MN 1h30pm - 3h30pm. Call Donna Chalimonczyk at 218-287-2065 for further information.
